A meeting chaired by the Health Minister discussed health needs and support priorities in line with the government’s economic recovery plan.

Urgent Health Needs Discussed in Aden Meeting

A meeting held today in Aden, the temporary capital of Yemen, focused on the urgent and essential needs of the health sector. Dr. Qassem Baheebah, the Minister of Public Health and Population, led the discussions, emphasizing the government’s priorities for economic recovery.

Challenges in Health Projects

The meeting included key participants such as health ministry officials, general directors, and specialized personnel. Attendees reviewed the challenges hindering the implementation of various health projects and programs. They also assessed the response from government supporters and international organizations to the pressing needs of Yemen’s healthcare system.

Funding Gaps and Priorities

The agenda addressed the health program matrix, identifying funding gaps and incorporating them into the government’s urgent priorities for the next 100 days. This strategic approach aims to streamline efforts and ensure effective coordination among different health sectors.

Commitment to Systematic Health Work

During the meeting, Minister Baheebah reiterated the ministry’s commitment to enhancing systematic and institutional work. He highlighted the importance of planning and joint coordination among various health departments. Success in the health sector, he noted, hinges on clear priorities, transparency, and efficient follow-up.

National Responsibility and Comprehensive Needs Assessment

Baheebah stressed the collective national responsibility to conduct a thorough assessment of the increasing needs within the health sector. Given the economic pressures and compounded humanitarian and health challenges facing the country, he underscored the necessity of a clear matrix outlining priority programs, potential supporters, and the roles of each department within the ministry. This clarity is essential for optimizing efforts and ensuring effective coordination.
