On Tuesday, President Dr. Rashad Mohammed Alimi, head of the Presidential Leadership Council, convened a meeting with local authorities in Al-Mahra Governorate. The meeting included the presence of Defense Minister Major General Mohsen Al-Dhaeri and Minister of Public Works and Roads Engineer Salem Al-Aboudi.
The meeting featured key figures such as Al-Mahra Local Council Secretary-General Salem Abdullah Nimer, Technical Deputy Awd Qwaizan, and several directors of various departments and executive agencies. The primary focus of the discussion revolved around security, military conditions, and public services. Participants explored necessary measures to enhance the efficiency of local authorities and support their efforts to achieve security and stability while fulfilling their commitments to citizens.
President Alimi listened to briefings from the Defense Minister, who also chairs the Supreme Security Committee, and the Minister of Public Works and Roads, along with the Local Council Secretary-General. They provided comprehensive updates on military, security, and service conditions in the governorate. Despite the catastrophic impacts of Houthi terrorist attacks on oil facilities and maritime shipping, progress continues on government-supported projects.
The meeting also addressed the measures taken to mitigate damages caused by climate changes that have affected the governorate over recent years. President Alimi acknowledged the generous developmental and humanitarian interventions from the Saudi-led Coalition supporting legitimacy, particularly praising the significant contributions of the Saudi Program for the Development and Reconstruction of Yemen.
President Alimi commended the efforts of Al-Mahra Governor Mohammed Ali Yasser and the executive office in tackling existing challenges. He emphasized the importance of maintaining the governorate’s legacy as a symbol of tolerance, peace, and respect for state institutions.
The President praised the role of security and military agencies in enhancing stability and combating smuggling, including the illicit trafficking of Iranian weapons to Houthi militias. He urged local authorities in Al-Mahra to intensify their efforts to reinforce the state’s presence and support the government’s vision for improving revenues and implementing comprehensive reforms across various sectors.
The meeting concluded with the attendance of Major General Saleh Al-Maqaleh, Director of the Office of the President of the Presidential Leadership Council, highlighting the collaborative efforts to ensure a secure and prosperous future for Al-Mahra.
