A delegation from Yemen’s Ministry of Youth and Sports, led by Dr. Nadia Abdullah, the Deputy Minister for Women’s Affairs, recently visited Rwanda to learn about the country’s successful youth empowerment strategies. This visit focused on providing opportunities in various sectors, including entrepreneurship, economic empowerment, and agriculture.
During their visit, the Yemeni delegation coordinated with the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and met with representatives from the Rwandan Cooperative Agency. This agency plays a crucial role in organizing such visits and tailoring programs to meet the specific needs of visiting delegations.
The delegation received valuable insights from Patricia Owasi, the Executive Director of the Rwandan Cooperative Agency. She outlined the agency’s efforts in hosting international delegations and coordinating with relevant local authorities to ensure effective collaboration.
Officials from Rwanda’s Ministry of Youth and Arts provided the Yemeni team with an overview of their programs and initiatives aimed at supporting youth. The discussions covered strategic planning, governance, and digital automation, showcasing Rwanda’s comprehensive approach to youth development.
The Yemeni delegation expressed their eagerness to learn from Rwanda’s exemplary practices. They emphasized the importance of closely examining these initiatives and discussing operational mechanisms that could be adapted to fit the context of Yemen’s Ministry of Youth and Sports.
The Yemeni delegation included several key figures: Wijdan Al-Shaibi, Deputy Minister for Planning and Information Systems; Dr. Mabrouk Al-Hasani, Director General of Planning; and Alaa Ihab, Youth and Health Coordinator at UNFPA. Additionally, civil society representatives, Aseel Mohammed and Basma Abdulkhaleq, accompanied the team.
This visit marks a significant step in fostering international cooperation and enhancing youth empowerment efforts in Yemen, drawing inspiration from Rwanda’s successful strategies.
