Yemeni Health Delegation Visits China to Strengthen Cooperation

A Yemeni delegation, led by Minister of Public Health and Population Dr. Qassem Baheebah, is currently visiting the People’s Republic of China. The primary goal of this visit is to explore avenues for enhancing bilateral cooperation and partnership in the health sector between Yemen and China.

Learning from China’s Health Experience

During this official visit, which the Chinese government has invited, the Yemeni delegation will examine China’s healthcare system. They aim to identify ways to leverage this experience to reform and modernize Yemen’s healthcare infrastructure.

The delegation will also assess the health services provided by various hospitals and specialized health centers. They will focus on disease prevention management, combating infectious and chronic diseases, maternal and child health, child nutrition, and the management of primary health care centers.

Training Program and Workshops

The visit, which will last until August 18, includes a comprehensive training program. This program features scientific seminars that address digital transformation in medical services, modern management of health facilities, and the foundations for building a resilient and sustainable healthcare system. Additionally, specialized workshops will concentrate on public health system reforms, healthcare financing, digital transformation, and China’s health insurance system.

Enhancing Yemen-China Health Partnership

Minister Dr. Qassem Baheebah expressed to the Yemeni News Agency (Saba) that this visit represents a significant opportunity to strengthen the partnership between Yemen and China in the health sector. He emphasized that it opens new horizons for benefiting from China’s experience in modernizing the healthcare system, ultimately improving the quality of health services in Yemen and enhancing the capabilities of national professionals across various specialties.

Commitment to Institutional Development

Minister Baheebah also conveyed the ministry’s aspiration to establish a fruitful partnership that contributes to the institutional development of Yemen’s healthcare system. He highlighted the importance of improving service efficiency for citizens, especially amid the exceptional circumstances the country is currently facing.
