On Wednesday, the Nigerian government announced the successful rescue of more than 300 hostages during a large-scale security operation. Details of the Rescue Operation
According to Nigerian presidential spokesperson Bayo Onanuga, a total of 308 citizens were freed from captivity. These individuals had been abducted in various attacks across the Niger and Kwara states. Among those rescued, 163 individuals hailed from the village of Woro, while 145 others were from Niger State.
The rescue operation took place within the Kainji Lake National Park, marking it as the largest single-day rescue mission in Nigeria’s history. The scale of participation and the challenging terrain where armed groups operate contributed to the significance of this operation.
