Oman announced on Sunday evening the postponement of a regional meeting concerning the Hormuz Strait, which was scheduled to take place on Monday in Salalah.

The Omani Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that the decision to delay the meeting aims to create suitable conditions for constructive dialogue. This dialogue seeks to achieve sustainable understandings that support the region’s security and stability while meeting the aspirations of its people for cooperation and peace.

Foreign Minister Badr Al-Busaidi confirmed the postponement via the platform X, emphasizing that the meeting was delayed to reach consensus among the concerned countries.
Context of the Postponement
The decision to postpone came after Bahrain’s refusal to participate and following Iran’s announcement regarding Oman’s hosting of the meeting. Additionally, the Fars News Agency reported that a representative from the Iranian Foreign Ministry indicated that the delay occurred at the request of several countries in the region. This decision was made jointly between Tehran and Muscat.
