The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center’s project, “Masam,” successfully removed 1,779 landmines planted by Houthi militias in various regions of Yemen during the third week of June. This achievement reflects the project’s ongoing efforts to clear Yemeni territories of landmines that threaten civilian lives and hinder reconstruction efforts.
Details of the Removed Landmines
According to a statement from the “Masam” project, the removed landmines include 257 anti-tank mines, 151 anti-personnel mines, 1,292 unexploded ordnance, and 79 explosive devices. These mines were distributed across several areas, including Aden Governorate, Hays District in Al Hudaydah Governorate, Mukalla District in Hadramaut Governorate, Midi District in Hajjah Governorate, Al Wadi District in Marib Governorate, as well as Shabwa and Taiz Governorates.
Total Number of Landmines Removed
The statement revealed that the total number of landmines removed since the beginning of June has reached 4,622. Since the launch of the “Masam” project in 2018, the total number of landmines cleared has reached 568,961. These mines were indiscriminately planted across various Yemeni territories, resulting in numerous casualties and devastating the lives of civilians, particularly children, women, and the elderly.

The “Masam” project stands as a vital humanitarian initiative aimed at protecting civilians from landmines.
