Governors of Lahij, Abyan, and Dhale’ take the oath of office before the President of the Presidential Leadership Council.
New Governors Sworn In by President Alimi
On Saturday, President Dr. Rashad Mohammed Alimi, head of the Presidential Leadership Council, administered the oath of office to the newly appointed governors of Lahij, Murad Al-Halimi, Abyan, Dr. Mukhtar Al-Rabash, and Al-Dhale, Major General Ahmed Al-Qubba.
Meeting with New Governors
Following the oath-taking ceremony, President Alimi met individually with each governor. He outlined the current priorities and emphasized the need for increased efforts to strengthen state institutions, improve essential services for citizens, and ensure security and stability in their respective provinces.
Strategic Importance of the Provinces
President Alimi highlighted the significant role of Lahij, Abyan, and Al-Dhale in the national equation and the battle to restore state institutions. He noted their crucial contributions to safeguarding the internal front and securing borders against Houthi militia threats. Additionally, he pointed out their strategic location in securing the temporary capital, Aden, combating smuggling and terrorism, and enhancing stability in liberated provinces.
Collaborative Efforts for Economic Reform
The President stressed the importance of teamwork with the government and central authorities. He urged the governors to focus on implementing economic and service reforms, improving the performance of regulatory agencies, enhancing transparency, and combating corruption. Prioritizing infrastructure development and essential services in electricity, water, roads, health, and education remains critical.
Unified Security and Military Decisions
President Alimi called for unified security and military decisions in Lahij, Abyan, and Al-Dhale. He emphasized the need for coordination with the Ministries of Defense and Interior to ensure security and stability, combat smuggling and illegal immigration, and firmly address land encroachments and illegal checkpoints. These measures aim to protect the state’s authority and ensure the free movement of citizens and essential goods.
Focus on Humanitarian and Developmental Issues
The President encouraged the governors to prioritize humanitarian and developmental issues. He urged them to empower youth and local talents, stimulate productive sectors, particularly agriculture and fisheries, and promote local investment. Creating an attractive environment for capital will help generate job opportunities and boost the local economy.
Strengthening Partnerships for Economic Recovery
President Alimi reaffirmed the importance of a close partnership with Saudi Arabia. He urged the governors to leverage support programs and developmental projects aimed at liberated provinces, which will enhance economic recovery efforts and improve essential services for citizens.
Clear Vision for Local Governance
The President emphasized that successful management of these provinces will directly impact state stability and enhance citizens’ trust in government institutions. He called on local leaders to establish clear visions and work plans, including setting priorities for the first hundred days, to meet citizens’ aspirations and strengthen the state’s presence across various districts.
