President Alimi Leads Eid al-Adha Prayers in Aden
On Friday, Dr. Rashad Mohammed Alimi, President of the Presidential Leadership Council, led the Eid al-Adha prayers alongside senior state officials and a large congregation in Aden, Yemen’s temporary capital.
Attendance of Key Officials
President Alimi attended the Eid sermons with Prime Minister Salem Saleh Bin Brek, Chief Justice Mohsen Yahya Taleb, and several advisors from the Presidential Leadership Council. Members of the House of Representatives, ministers, and governors, along with prominent civil, military, and security leaders, also participated in the prayers.
Significance of Eid al-Adha
In his sermon, Sheikh Ali Mahfoud highlighted the significance of Eid al-Adha as one of the most important days for Muslims. He emphasized its close connection to Hajj, one of the five pillars of Islam, and described it as a day of unity among Muslims. The occasion embodies joy, sacrifice, and the spirit of compassion, especially amid the challenging living conditions exacerbated by the humanitarian crisis caused by the Iranian-backed Houthi militia.
Call for Unity and Resilience
The sermon underscored the importance of unity and reconciliation among the Yemeni people. It called for collective efforts to restore the state institutions that the Houthis have seized and to dismantle their insurgency. The speaker also addressed the looming challenges posed by Iran’s expansionist agenda and its affiliated militias in Yemen and the region, which have led to widespread suffering and destruction.
Government’s Role in Alleviating Suffering
The preacher urged the state leadership to work collaboratively to alleviate the hardships faced by citizens and to ensure the provision of essential services. He expressed hope that such efforts would pave the way for victory with divine assistance. He prayed for the success of President Alimi and his council members, wishing them guidance and support in their endeavors for the nation.
Acknowledgment of Political Trust
Sheikh Mahfoud congratulated Prime Minister Salem Saleh Bin Brek on earning the trust of the political leadership, wishing him and his cabinet success in their national responsibilities.
Gratitude for International Support
The sermon also acknowledged the support from Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates in aiding Yemen and its people, particularly in light of the Houthi attacks on oil facilities and international shipping routes, which are backed by the Iranian regime.
Reception at Al-Maashiq Palace
Following the prayers, President Alimi received a large number of citizens, state officials, military leaders, and community figures at Al-Maashiq Palace. He exchanged greetings and well-wishes, hoping that this significant religious occasion would return with blessings and prosperity. He expressed wishes for peace, security, and stability across Yemen and all Muslim nations, praying for the protection of all peoples from harm.
