This initiative, supported by the World Health Organization and UNICEF, will run from November 7 to November 12.
Campaign Objectives and Target Population
The campaign aims to vaccinate 125,460 children aged six months to five years in the governorate. Its primary goals include reducing the spread of measles, enhancing health protection for children, and increasing community immunity. This effort is particularly crucial given the health and humanitarian challenges facing Marib, which has a high population density and significant gatherings of displaced individuals. The campaign seeks to intensify preventive interventions and expand vaccination services to reach all targeted children.
Emphasis on Field Efforts and Collaboration
The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health emphasized the need to double field efforts and adhere to implementation plans, quality standards, and safety protocols. He stressed the importance of ensuring vaccination teams reach various regions, population centers, and displacement camps. He highlighted the necessity of collaboration among the ministry, local authorities, the health sector, partners, and the community to ensure the campaign’s success and achieve its objectives.
Acknowledgment of Preparatory Efforts
Dr. Moshaw praised the efforts of the Public Health and Population Office in Marib for their preparation and coordination for the campaign. He commended the technical and field readiness and acknowledged the support from the World Health Organization and UNICEF for vaccination programs and their role in assisting the Ministry of Health in protecting children’s health.
Preparations and Training for Health Workers
Dr. Ahmed Al-Abadi, the Director General of the Public Health and Population Office in Marib, explained that the launch of the campaign follows a series of technical, administrative, and field preparations coordinated with relevant authorities. These preparations included training 638 health workers involved in the campaign, developing field plans, distributing teams and supplies, and enhancing coordination, supervision, and monitoring to ensure vaccination activities align with set objectives.
Focus on High-Density Areas and Community Responsibility
Al-Abadi confirmed that the health office has mobilized available resources to ensure the campaign’s success, particularly in high-density areas, displacement camps, and remote regions. He pointed out that protecting children from epidemic diseases is a shared responsibility that requires the combined efforts of official institutions, community leaders, and parents.
Call to Action for Parents
The Director General of the Health Office urged all parents to cooperate with vaccination teams and to ensure their children in the targeted age group receive vaccinations. He affirmed that vaccines represent the most effective means of preventing measles and reducing its complications. The success of the campaign largely depends on community awareness and positive engagement with health teams.
