Yemen Celebrates International Youth Day with a Special Event in Aden

Recognizing the Vital Role of Youth in Peace and Society Building

The Ministry of Youth and Sports’ Youth Sector is set to organize a special celebration on Monday in Aden, the temporary capital, marking International Youth Day, which falls on August 12th each year. This event underscores the global recognition of young people’s critical contributions to peace processes and community development.

Dr. Munir Lema, the Deputy Minister for the Youth Sector, emphasized the significance of commemorating this global occasion. He highlighted it as an opportunity to acknowledge the youth’s vital roles and their aspirations and dreams for building a desired future. The Ministry has consistently celebrated this occasion annually, fostering a platform where young people’s aspirations and hopes for the future converge.

Ministry’s Commitment to Youth Empowerment

Dr. Lema also pointed out that the celebration aligns with the Ministry’s commitment to care for this important demographic by nurturing and empowering them across various fields and domains. He confirmed that the Ministry has directed its branches in the liberated provinces to prepare and make the necessary arrangements for the celebration.

This initiative demonstrates the Ministry of Youth and Sports’ dedication to investing in the youth, recognizing their importance in shaping the future of society. By celebrating International Youth Day, the Ministry aims to provide a space for young people to express their visions and to be acknowledged for their ongoing efforts in peacebuilding and societal contributions.

The celebration in Aden is not just a local event but a part of a global acknowledgment of the power and potential of young people to effect positive change in the world. Through such initiatives, Yemen joins the international community in recognizing the pivotal role of youth in creating a more peaceful and prosperous future for all.
