In a tragic incident, a young man suffered severe injuries due to the explosion of a landmine left by the Iran-backed Houthi militia in the Beit al-Faqih district of Al-Hodeidah province, western Yemen.
Sources from human rights organizations reported that 24-year-old Mohammed Ibrahim Marzouki was injured on Saturday when he triggered a Houthi landmine in the village of Al-Marazaqa in the Al-Jah Al-A’la area, west of the Beit al-Faqih district. The explosion resulted in the amputation of Marzouki’s left leg and caused him to sustain shrapnel wounds across various parts of his body.
This incident occurred just hours after the death of 28-year-old Joudat Jaber Majhesi, who was killed by a Houthi landmine explosion while returning from the market on a motorcycle in the Qudbah area of the Durihimi district in the same province.
The Houthi-laid mines and unexploded ordinance have caused thousands of deaths and injuries among civilians, with women and children making up the majority of the victims. This pattern of violence has affected several provinces across Yemen since the onset of the conflict.
The continuous placement and detonation of landmines by the Houthi militia underscore the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Yemen, posing a persistent threat to the safety and security of its civilians. The international community remains concerned about the escalating violence and its devastating impact on the Yemeni population.
