Yemeni Prime Minister Receives Comprehensive Audit Reports on Government Institutions

Prime Minister's Office Prioritizes Transparency and Anti-Corruption Efforts

ADEN – SABA News Agency

On Tuesday, Yemeni Prime Minister Dr. Ahmed Awad Bin Mubarak received a series of detailed audit reports from the Central Organization for Control and Auditing (COCA). These reports, which cover several government institutions, were requested by the Prime Minister shortly after he took office.

Audit Findings Highlight Institutional Performance

COCA President, Judge Abu Bakr Al-Saqqaf, handed over reports reviewing the operations of critical government bodies. These include the Free Zone Authority in Aden, Aden Refinery Company, and the Gulf of Aden Ports Authority. Additionally, the reports covered the Yemen Petroleum Company and its branches, Arabian Sea Ports Corporation, Yemen Oil Investments Company, and other key institutions. COCA also assessed tax operations across the Tax Authority and its provincial offices, noting significant findings on performance.

Government Pushes for Transparency and Accountability

Prime Minister Bin Mubarak expressed his appreciation for COCA’s role in promoting transparency and tackling corruption. He emphasized that safeguarding public funds remains a priority for his administration. Furthermore, he noted that some cases have already been referred to the public prosecutor, such as the Aden Refinery Company investigation initiated on October 13, 2024. To strengthen transparency, he urged all state institutions to fully engage with oversight mechanisms.

Directives Issued to Ministries and Agencies

The Prime Minister directed all audited ministries and institutions to respond promptly to COCA’s findings. He instructed that severe violations should go to the public prosecutor, reinforcing the government’s commitment to ongoing review. Moreover, he warned that hindering COCA’s work would be considered obstruction, carrying potential legal consequences.

Strict Compliance with Regulations

Dr. Bin Mubarak reiterated the importance of strict adherence to financial and administrative regulations. He clarified that any misconduct, regardless of directives, would lead to accountability. Additionally, he called on all institutions to provide COCA with clear, transparent financial data to support the agency’s review process.

Renewed Commitment to Anti-Corruption

Supported by the Presidential Leadership Council, the Prime Minister affirmed the government’s dedication to rooting out corruption, enforcing the rule of law, and restoring public confidence in state institutions. “Corruption is a grave crime in peace and a betrayal in conflict,” he stated. He highlighted that fighting corruption is a shared national duty, requiring cooperation with oversight agencies to establish fair and transparent accountability.

COCA’s Continued Audit Efforts

COCA President Al-Saqqaf assured that his teams would continue their audit duties, with plans to review other institutions. He praised the Prime Minister’s vision for stronger anti-corruption measures and the commitment to enhancing regulatory performance.

The meeting included Engineer Anis Baharetha, Director of the Prime Minister’s Office, who voiced support for the ongoing transparency initiatives.
