Yemen welcomes the joint international statement addressing the Iranian regime’s cross-border hostile activities.

Yemen Welcomes Joint International Statement on Iranian Hostile Activities

The Yemeni Ministry of Foreign Affairs has expressed strong support for the recent joint statement issued by the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, and several European Union countries. This statement addresses the hostile actions carried out by the Iranian regime and its security and intelligence apparatus within these nations. Such actions include intimidation, assassination, kidnapping, and targeting civilians, journalists, and Iranian dissidents.

Growing International Awareness of Iranian Terrorism

In a statement released this evening, the Ministry emphasized that this international stance reflects a growing recognition of the Iranian regime’s terrorist nature. The regime actively promotes chaos, violates state sovereignty, and employs militias and armed groups to further its expansionist agenda. These activities pose a direct threat to international peace and security.

Yemen’s Experience with Iranian Destabilization

The Ministry highlighted that Yemen has been one of the first countries to suffer from Iran’s destructive policies. The Iranian regime provides military, financial, and technical support to the Houthi militia, which has evolved into a cross-border military arm. This militia threatens Yemen’s security, maritime routes, and international trade while undermining peace and stability efforts.

Call for Stronger Actions Against Iran and Its Proxies

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that the conclusions drawn from the joint statement necessitate a shift from mere political condemnation to adopting more robust measures to deter the Iranian regime and its proxies. This includes expanding sanctions, cutting off funding and arms supplies, and enhancing international cooperation to counter cross-border destabilizing activities. The Ministry also emphasized the need to treat the Houthi militia as an integral part of terrorist networks.

Urging the European Union for Action

The Ministry specifically called on the European Union to build on this advanced position and take stricter actions against the Houthi militias. It urged the EU to classify these militias as terrorist organizations and hold accountable individuals and entities involved in supporting, financing, and arming them. Such steps would contribute to collective security and support efforts aimed at achieving sustainable peace in Yemen and the broader region.

The Yemeni Ministry’s response underscores the urgency of addressing Iranian aggression and its implications for regional stability.
