Yemen welcomes ICJ’s advisory opinion on the illegality of Israeli occupation

The Republic of Yemen has welcomed the advisory opinion issued by the International Court of Justice, which states that the ongoing Israeli occupation of Palestinian territories is illegal.

In a statement, the Yemeni Ministry of Foreign Affairs considered this opinion to be a legal reference of great significance, necessitating serious and practical steps from the international community for its implementation.

The Ministry emphasized that peace, security, and stability in the region can only be achieved through fulfilling the aspirations of the Palestinian people to establish their independent state with East Jerusalem as its capital.

The International Court of Justice, the highest judicial body of the United Nations, stated last Friday in an advisory opinion that the decades-long Israeli occupation of Palestinian territories is “illegal” and must end “as soon as possible.”
