Yemen Participates in Global Tourism Ministerial Conference in Berlin

The Republic of Yemen actively participated in the Global Tourism Ministerial Conference held today in Berlin, Germany. The Yemeni delegation was led by Minister of Culture and Tourism, Mu’taz Dhamaj.

Promoting Yemen’s Tourism Potential

In his address, Minister Dhamaj highlighted Yemen’s promising investment opportunities in the tourism sector. He emphasized the country’s unique historical, natural, and cultural assets that position it as a distinguished tourist destination in the region. Dhamaj stated that with the right conditions for stability and development, Yemen could thrive as a tourism hub. He articulated Yemen’s vision of empowering tourism as a practical avenue for development and recovery. Furthermore, he noted that investing in tourism goes beyond economic gains; it represents an investment in stability, cultural preservation, community cohesion, and building trust among nations.

Addressing Challenges and Infrastructure Damage

Minister Dhamaj also addressed the significant destruction and damage to Yemen’s infrastructure caused by the Houthi militia’s actions. He acknowledged the efforts made by the government in liberated areas, supported by Saudi Arabia, to overcome the war’s impacts. These efforts focus on stabilizing state institutions, promoting peace, and engaging the community in shaping Yemen’s present and future.

The Need for Continued Support

Despite these efforts, Dhamaj stressed the ongoing need for substantial support to rehabilitate infrastructure, improve services, and enhance institutional efficiency. He pointed out that creating a safe and attractive environment for investment and tourism remains a priority. Yemen seeks effective partnerships that foster a scalable model based on good governance, responsible investment, capacity building, and digital transformation.

Conference Attendance

The conference also saw the attendance of Yemen’s Ambassador to Germany, Louay Yahya Al-Iryani, and the embassy’s investment relations officer, Nashwan Al-Rajawi.
