Yemen’s Coast Guard Leadership Engages with South Korean Ambassador

Today, Major General Khaled Ali Mohammed Al-Qamali, head of Yemen’s Coast Guard, met with Kim Young-sam, the South Korean Ambassador to Yemen. The discussion focused on enhancing cooperation in maritime security and bolstering the capabilities of Yemen’s Coast Guard. The meeting also included the presence of advisor and consul from the South Korean embassy, Yoo Seong-jae.

Yemen’s Coast Guard Efforts

During the meeting, Major General Al-Qamali highlighted the key missions and initiatives undertaken by the Coast Guard. These efforts encompass maritime security, anti-smuggling operations, search and rescue missions, and the protection of maritime navigation. Additionally, he addressed the operational and technical needs necessary for the development of the Coast Guard’s capabilities.

Future Cooperation Opportunities

Both parties explored future collaboration opportunities in training, capacity building, and technical support. Clearly, enhancing these areas will significantly improve the readiness of Yemen’s Coast Guard, enabling them to perform their duties with greater efficiency.

The head of the Coast Guard emphasized Yemen’s commitment to expanding cooperation with South Korea. He expressed a desire to benefit from South Korea’s advanced maritime expertise. In response, Ambassador Kim reaffirmed South Korea’s interest in strengthening cooperation with Yemen in mutually beneficial areas. He praised the vital role Yemen’s Coast Guard plays in safeguarding territorial waters and securing maritime routes.

This meeting marks a significant step towards enhancing maritime security cooperation between Yemen and South Korea, promising a more secure maritime environment for both nations.
