The Yemeni Network for Rights and Freedoms documented 164 crimes and violations committed by Houthi militias against civilians and civilian objects in the provinces of Taiz and Lahij over the past 48 hours. The report also noted that the militias launched approximately 450 projectiles at populated neighborhoods and areas.
The network’s report revealed that these assaults resulted in the deaths of 28 civilians, including five children and three women. Additionally, 57 others sustained injuries, comprising 14 children and six women, along with ten healthcare workers.
The documented violations included killings and injuries from shelling and sniper fire, as well as two massacres against civilians. The report highlighted incidents of kidnapping and detention, targeting of residential neighborhoods, public roads, ambulance crews, and private vehicles. Furthermore, the militias engaged in recruitment efforts targeting marginalized youth.
The report indicated that 51 homes and healthcare facilities suffered damage, with ten homes completely destroyed. Twelve private vehicles also incurred damage. The militias conducted a campaign of kidnappings in the areas of Al-Houban, Taiz, and the western coast, resulting in the abduction of 16 citizens, who were taken to unknown locations.
On Monday, the Houthi militias carried out two massacres by targeting the Al-Suqayah Health Center in Lahij and a popular market in Taiz. These attacks led to casualties and damage to civilian facilities and gatherings. The shelling of the Al-Suqayah Health Center resulted in the deaths and injuries of 20 individuals, including ten healthcare workers.
The network also monitored recruitment operations targeting marginalized youth in the Samqa area of the Al-Kalaibah district in the Mafer district. These youths were enrolled in training courses in preparation for deployment to combat fronts in the southern province.
The network warned against exploiting the social and economic conditions of this demographic, exposing them to the dangers of combat. It emphasized the serious risks associated with recruiting children and involving them in hostilities, which poses a threat to their lives and futures.
