In a significant move to enhance bilateral relations, Yemen’s Minister of Agriculture, Irrigation, and Fisheries, Major General Salem Al-Saqtari, signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Ilya Shestakov, the head of the Russian Federal Agency for Fishery. The signing ceremony took place today in Saint Petersburg, Russia, marking a new chapter in the cooperation between the two countries in the fisheries sector.
The MoU signing occurred on the sidelines of the International Forum for the Fishing Industry and the Exhibition for Fishing Industry, Seafood, and Technology in Saint Petersburg. Minister Al-Saqtari emphasized the deep historical ties between Yemen and Russia, highlighting the MoU’s significance in fostering a partnership between the two nations. On his part, Ilya Shestakov expressed Russia’s eagerness to open new horizons for economic cooperation with Yemen.
