On Thursday, the United Nations Mission to Support the Hodeidah Agreement (UNMHA) announced two tragic incidents related to landmines and unexploded ordnance in Al Hudaydah, a province in western Yemen. These incidents occurred in September and resulted in the deaths of a man and a woman, while another civilian sustained injuries.
UNMHA highlighted that Yemen continues to face significant dangers from explosive devices. The province of Al Hudaydah remains one of the most affected areas due to past violent conflicts and the ongoing struggle along the front lines in the southern part of the region. The presence of these hazardous materials poses a persistent threat to civilian safety.
With these recent incidents, the total number of casualties in Al Hudaydah has risen to 30 fatalities and 42 injuries since the beginning of this year, according to UNMHA statistics.
