Two brothers sustained injuries from a drone strike carried out by Houthi militia while working in a khat farm in the village of Al-Mudbi, located in the Al-Barmaan district of Al-Zahir, Al-Bayda Province. This incident highlights the ongoing violations committed by the Houthis against civilians in areas near government forces.
Legal Affairs Minister Ishraq Al-Maqtari reported that brothers Abdulhakim and Salah Ahmed Junaid Al-Barmani were targeted just before noon last Friday. They were performing their usual tasks on the farm when the attack occurred. Both brothers received medical treatment at Al-Thawra General Hospital in Al-Bayda City. This incident underscores the urgent need to protect civilians in conflict zones.
Al-Maqtari shared eyewitness accounts indicating that the drone originated from Houthi positions in the mountains of Al-Barmaan, directly opposite government forces in the Al-Had district of Yafa. Meanwhile, the leadership of the Al-Had front in Yafa denied any connection to the attacking drone, raising concerns about security in the area.
Al-Maqtari emphasized that Al-Mudbi village lies on a direct front line and frequently experiences attacks on civilians. She pointed out that residents of Al-Zahir district have endured significant suffering, particularly since 2020, due to ongoing shelling and violence targeting their farms, homes, and roads. These violations demand immediate action from the international community.
The minister criticized the UN envoy and international mechanisms for their inaction regarding the Houthi escalation. She called for a decisive stance against the continuous violations of civilians in frontline areas, including Al-Bayda and Taiz. The international community must act to protect civilians and ensure security and stability in these affected regions.
