Regional Police Chief Samuel Ndani reported that emergency rescue teams initiated a search of the dormitory shortly after the fire ignited around 1 AM local time (10 PM GMT). Firefighters and police promptly arrived at the scene to combat the flames and facilitate the evacuation of the remaining students.
