On Monday, a tragic drowning incident occurred at Al-Hasswa – New Enma Coast in Aden, leading to the untimely deaths of two individuals. Emergency responders managed to rescue three others who were also in distress.
The Coast Guard received an urgent report regarding five individuals struggling in the water. In response, specialized rescue teams and divers were promptly dispatched to the scene. Their efforts were successful in saving three individuals, while the bodies of two minors, aged 15 and 14, were recovered from the water.
Authorities have confirmed that the drowning incident was attributed to the individuals’ inability to swim. After the necessary legal procedures were completed, the Coast Guard handed over the bodies to the families of the deceased minors.
This incident follows a recent tragedy at the Mareb Dam diversion, where five individuals also lost their lives, prompting serious concerns regarding water safety in the region. Last week, the General Authority for Meteorology issued warnings about rising sea levels along the coast of Aden and advised residents to avoid hazardous areas.
As the community mourns the loss of these young lives, this event serves as a stark reminder of the dangers associated with water activities, especially for those lacking swimming skills. Authorities continue to emphasize the importance of safety measures to prevent further tragedies.
