Marib, Yemen – The Military Prosecutor’s Office of the Third Military Region announced today the destruction of 327 kilograms of hashish. This significant seizure occurred during an operation where military and security forces intercepted an attempt by Iranian-backed Houthi militias to smuggle drugs into the province.
Lieutenant General Mansour Thawabeh, commander of the Third Military Region, stated that the destruction aligns with directives from the Ministry of Defense and the General Staff. He emphasized that these narcotics represent a tool of war used by the Houthi militia to target Yemeni society. Thawabeh assured the public that monitoring and interception efforts continue to pursue the smuggling networks aiming to flood liberated areas with drugs.
General Thawabeh praised the ongoing successes in seizing drug shipments, highlighting the vigilance and professionalism of the military and security forces at various checkpoints. He affirmed that these dedicated personnel will not allow any substances that threaten social fabric or public peace to pass through.
In a related statement, Brigadier General Nasser Raqeeb, the Deputy Governor of Marib for Defense and Security, commended the efforts of military and security personnel. He noted that the achievements in dismantling smuggling networks reflect a high level of readiness and commitment.
General Raqeeb stressed that security, military, and intelligence agencies will remain steadfast in combating criminal gangs and protecting the community from the dangers of drugs. Their resolve to maintain public safety is unwavering.
Judge Salah Al-Qumeiri, head of the Military Prosecutor’s Office, clarified that the destruction process followed all legal procedures and received directives from the Attorney General. He confirmed that this operation resulted from thorough documentation and investigation, leading to final judicial decisions.
Al-Qumeiri pointed out that the prosecutor’s office prioritizes these cases due to their direct threat to national security and societal peace. He assured that legal actions will be taken against anyone found involved in smuggling crimes, and strict measures will be enforced regarding all confiscated substances in accordance with applicable laws.
This operation underscores the ongoing efforts to combat drug trafficking and protect the community from its harmful effects. The commitment of military and security forces remains crucial in maintaining stability in the region.
