On Wednesday, Minister of State and Governor of Aden, Ahmed Hamid Lamlas, visited the Third Electricity District in the Al-Buraiqa Directorate to assess ongoing operations. His visit aimed to address the challenges faced by the electricity sector in the region.
During his visit, Lamlas engaged with the district manager, Engineer Majid Saleh, who provided a comprehensive overview of the current state of work and the significant challenges the team encounters. Lamlas emphasized the necessity of facilitating procedures for citizens and urged a serious and responsible approach to tackle the issue of illegal connections to the electricity grid.
He acknowledged that complaints from citizens regarding violations reach the governor’s office daily. Consequently, he stressed the importance of having officials present in the field and in offices to fulfill their responsibilities. Lamlas warned that any official found negligent or in violation of regulations would face legal consequences.
In a separate initiative, Lamlas also inspected the operations of the Public Slaughterhouse and Meat Markets. He toured various sections of the facility, seeking insights from staff members about the decline in performance and productivity levels.
At the conclusion of his visit, Lamlas made a decisive move by suspending the General Director of the facility, Bassam Al-Masbahi, along with his deputy, Shamsan Saif, due to administrative negligence and several identified violations within the institution.
Minister Lamlas’ proactive approach highlights the government’s commitment to improving public services in Aden. By addressing operational challenges in both the electricity sector and meat markets, he aims to enhance the quality of life for residents and ensure accountability among officials.
