Speaker of Parliament Meets with National Council of Hadhramaut

On Monday, Sheikh Sultan al-Barakani, the Speaker of the Yemeni Parliament, held a significant meeting with the National Council of Hadhramaut, the General Secretariat, the Council of Elders, and heads of various departments. This gathering aimed to discuss the pivotal role of Hadhramaut in Yemen’s quest for peace and stability.

Welcoming Remarks

The meeting commenced with welcoming remarks from Issam bin Habresh, the Secretary-General of the Hadhramaut Council. He expressed his pleasure at hosting the Speaker and emphasized Hadhramaut’s crucial position as a center for peace in Yemen. Bin Habresh highlighted that the province serves as a cornerstone of the national cause and a bearer of the project for security, stability, and tranquility for all Yemenis. He asserted that Hadhramaut represents a safe key to a final resolution for the ongoing challenges facing the nation.

Acknowledgment of Contributions

In response, Speaker al-Barakani praised the people of Hadhramaut for their dedication to preserving state institutions and their sacrifices in defense of the homeland. He acknowledged their efforts to protect national achievements during various phases of Yemen’s struggle for independence. Al-Barakani called for unity among the people of Hadhramaut and urged all local factions to collaborate, emphasizing that Hadhramaut is a focal point for everyone. He noted its partnership with Al-Mahra, a province free from conflicts and militias, which is vital for fulfilling the aspirations of its citizens politically, security-wise, and culturally.

Call for Development and Cooperation

Al-Barakani urged all attendees to focus on development, growth, and progress. He encouraged them to leverage the full support provided by Saudi Arabia to Yemen in various sectors. The Speaker called on the council to formulate plans and programs aimed at serving Hadhramaut, striving for the highest levels of development, harmony, peace, and security. He expressed confidence in the resilience of the people of Hadhramaut to overcome challenges, presenting their province as a model for peace, unity, and the activation of justice and law enforcement.

 

The meeting underscored the importance of collaboration among the people of Hadhramaut to build a brighter future for Yemen. As the discussions concluded, there was a shared commitment to fostering peace and stability in the region, reinforcing the belief that Hadhramaut can play a pivotal role in shaping the future of the nation.
