Prime Minister Emphasizes Revitalization of Aden

Prime Minister Dr. Ahmed Awad bin Mubarak has underscored the importance of restoring Aden’s identity and enhancing its status as the temporary capital of Yemen. He stressed that improving the living conditions of its residents requires collaborative efforts at both official and community levels. This initiative aims to reinforce Aden’s role as a vital economic and political center in the country.

Ramadan Evening Discussion

During a Ramadan gathering on Thursday evening, Prime Minister bin Mubarak met with the Aden Consultation Group, which includes prominent figures from the city, such as politicians, judges, academics, and business leaders. The discussions focused on collaborative strategies to uplift Aden and proposed ideas to overcome existing challenges. Participants also explored how civil society can support government efforts in this regard.

Government’s Commitment to Citizens

Dr. bin Mubarak reiterated the government’s commitment to addressing the concerns and issues faced by citizens. He acknowledged the hardships caused by the economic war waged by the Houthi militia. The Prime Minister pledged to advocate for citizens’ rights and emphasized the importance of community support and effective partnerships with the private sector and civil society to achieve these goals.

Overview of Current Challenges

The Prime Minister provided the Aden Consultation Group with a comprehensive overview of the current situation across various sectors. He outlined the government’s priorities in tackling challenges, particularly the depreciation of the national currency and the stabilization of essential services like electricity and water. He also discussed five key areas of focus, detailing the progress in financial, administrative, and economic reforms, as well as the government’s commitment to combat corruption and enhance transparency and accountability.

Community Engagement and Support

Participants in the evening expressed their appreciation for the Prime Minister’s dedication to fostering partnerships with civil society. They emphasized the importance of rallying around the government to implement its vision and reforms to navigate current challenges. The Aden Consultation Group highlighted its objectives and the activities it has undertaken since its establishment five years ago, which include discussions and analyses of various obstacles facing Aden, along with practical proposals to enhance security, stability, and service provision.

The gathering also included Prime Minister’s advisor, Ambassador Mujib Othman, and the Executive Director of the Prime Minister’s technical team, Jamal bin Ghanem. Their presence underscored the government’s commitment to engaging with community leaders and stakeholders in the ongoing efforts to revitalize Aden.
