On Tuesday, Prime Minister Salem Saleh Bin Brek held a crucial meeting in the temporary capital of Aden with UK Minister of State for the Middle East and North Africa Hamish Falconer. The discussions focused on enhancing bilateral relations, addressing reform initiatives, and tackling issues related to the economy, energy, and counter-terrorism efforts.

Commitment to Strengthening Political and Economic Ties

Both leaders expressed a strong commitment to bolstering political, economic, and security partnerships. They emphasized the importance of coordinating efforts to support the Yemeni government in its reform agenda, aiming to achieve stability and recovery in the region.

A Message of Support for Yemen

Prime Minister Bin Brek welcomed the British delegation, highlighting that their visit sends a significant message of support to the legitimate Yemeni government and its people. He reiterated the government’s dedication to expanding cooperation with the United Kingdom. This collaboration aims to enhance economic, financial, and administrative reforms while improving essential sectors such as electricity, healthcare, and infrastructure.

UK’s Commitment to Yemen

In response, Minister Falconer reaffirmed the UK’s commitment to supporting the Yemeni government. He pledged assistance in implementing reforms and strengthening the capabilities of the coast guard and international maritime security. Falconer noted that his presence in Aden signifies the UK’s solidarity with Yemen during this critical period.

The meeting also included several key figures, such as Foreign Minister Shaif Al-Zindani, Prime Minister’s Office Director Ali Atbosh, Advisor to the Prime Minister Mujib Othman, and the UK Ambassador to Yemen Abda Sharif.

This meeting marks a significant step in reinforcing the partnership between Yemen and the United Kingdom, focusing on vital reforms and security cooperation.
