Prime Minister Leads High-Level Oil Marketing Committee Meeting in Aden

On Tuesday, Dr. Shaya Mohsen Al-Zandani, the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, chaired a crucial meeting of the High-Level Oil Marketing Committee in Aden, Yemen’s temporary capital. The meeting focused on executing plans to resume oil exports, following directives from President Rashad Alimi of the Presidential Leadership Council.

Steps to Resume Oil Exports

The committee, which included Central Bank Governor Ahmed Ghaleb, reviewed the necessary technical, administrative, and logistical steps to restart oil export operations. They discussed coordination among various relevant agencies to ensure effective and swift implementation of these measures. The goal is to leverage one of the country’s most vital resources to bolster economic stability and enable the government to meet its obligations to citizens.

Economic Impact of Oil Export Suspension

The committee addressed the significant economic and financial losses Yemen has faced since oil exports halted in October 2022. This suspension followed terrorist attacks by Houthi militias on oil facilities and export ports, depriving the national treasury of crucial revenue. The committee highlighted how this situation has affected the government’s ability to fulfill its commitments, particularly in paying employee salaries and improving essential services.

Government’s Commitment to Oil Export Resumption

Prime Minister Al-Zandani emphasized that the government operates under a clear vision to transform President Alimi’s directives into actionable steps. He stated that resuming oil exports is a national and sovereign obligation that cannot be delayed. The Prime Minister affirmed that the revenues from oil will directly benefit citizens across Yemen, helping to meet the government’s fundamental commitments, including salary payments and service improvements.

Addressing Challenges and Ensuring Efficiency

Dr. Al-Zandani urged the High-Level Oil Marketing Committee and relevant authorities to expedite the completion of technical and operational procedures. He called for regular progress reports to monitor achievements and encouraged a collaborative team spirit to overcome challenges. The aim is to ensure that oil export operations resume with the highest standards of efficiency while protecting national interests.

National Priority: Resuming Oil Exports

The committee discussions underscored that resuming oil exports is a national and governmental priority at this stage. It serves as a primary avenue for enhancing public resources and restoring economic recovery. The committee members expressed their commitment to balancing export activities with local market needs and fuel supply for power stations, guided by clear plans and visions.

In conclusion, the meeting marked a significant step towards revitalizing Yemen’s oil sector, which is crucial for the country’s economic recovery and stability.
