On Wednesday, the Presidential Leadership Council convened under the leadership of President Dr. Rashad Mohammed Al-Alimi. The meeting included members Sultan Al-Aradah, Abdulrahman Al-Mahrimi, Dr. Abdullah Al-Alimi, and via video link, Aidarus Al-Zubaidi, Tariq Saleh, and Othman Majali. Also present were Prime Minister Salem Saleh Bin Brek, Central Bank Governor Ahmed Ghaleb, and local authority leaders from the liberated provinces.
The council dedicated this meeting to discussing the executive performance in the liberated provinces. They addressed the upcoming phase’s requirements across economic, service, and security sectors.
During the meeting, the council praised local authorities for their efforts despite the challenging economic and humanitarian conditions exacerbated by the Iranian-backed Houthi militia’s war.
The council stressed the importance of collaboration among executive authority components. They highlighted the need to enhance governance principles and adhere to laws regulating public resource management. This approach serves as the foundation for the comprehensive reform program led by the state at all levels.
The council listened to reports from governors regarding service and living conditions, public resource collection mechanisms, and challenges faced by local institutions. They also discussed security threats posed by terrorist cells collaborating with the Houthis, including attempts to smuggle weapons and drugs through provincial borders.
In this context, the council emphasized the need to unify the management of sovereign and local resources. They called for the prohibition of any illegal tax collection and advocated for connecting all provinces to electronic collection systems. This initiative aims to enhance transparency and accountability, ensuring the state accesses all its resources to serve citizens effectively.
The council also underscored the importance of enhancing security readiness in the liberated provinces. They called for improved coordination with relevant agencies to confront terrorist threats and monitor networks linked to the militias, aiming to deter their destabilizing activities.
The council reaffirmed the importance of responsible cooperation with international organizations. They committed to facilitating humanitarian operations and providing necessary protection for their teams and staff. This commitment reflects the state’s legal and ethical obligations and sends a clear message about its respect for humanitarian work, which millions of citizens urgently need.
In this context, the council reiterated the state’s commitment to ensuring the safety of humanitarian workers. They also pledged to support efforts to release hostages held by the Houthi militias and to combat severe human rights violations.
The council expressed gratitude for the support from Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, particularly regarding developmental and service projects underway in various liberated provinces.
The meeting concluded with the approval of a series of urgent measures and recommendations in financial, service, and security sectors. They mandated regular reports on compliance levels and results achieved in each province.
The meeting also included Dr. Yahya Al-Shaibi, Director of the Presidential Office, and Minister of Local Administration Hussein Al-Aghbari.
This meeting marks a significant step in addressing the challenges faced by the liberated provinces and reinforces the council’s commitment to improving governance and security for the benefit of all citizens.
