President Alimi Joins Global Leaders in New York

On Tuesday, President Dr. Rashad Mohammed Alimi, head of Yemen’s Presidential Leadership Council, attended the opening session of the 79th United Nations General Assembly in New York. He was joined by council members Aidarus Al-Zubaidi and Othman Majali, alongside world leaders, heads of government, and representatives from regional and international organizations.

Yemen’s Delegation at the Assembly

Yemen’s delegation for this year’s session includes Foreign Minister Dr. Shaea Al-Zandani, Yemen’s Permanent Representative to the UN Abdullah Al-Saadi, and Yemen’s Ambassador to the United States Mohammed Al-Hadhrami. This diverse group aims to represent Yemen’s interests on the global stage.

Upcoming Address by President Alimi

Later this Thursday, President Alimi will deliver a speech on behalf of the Republic of Yemen. In his address, he plans to discuss the current national situation, outline the council and government’s vision for achieving lasting and comprehensive peace, and emphasize the importance of adhering to agreed-upon national, regional, and international references. Additionally, he will address recent developments both regionally and internationally.

Opening Remarks Highlight Global Challenges

The opening session commenced with remarks from UN Secretary-General António Guterres and the current President of the Assembly, Philemon Yang. This year’s assembly carries the theme “Leaving No One Behind: Working Together to Promote Peace, Sustainable Development, and Human Dignity for Current and Future Generations.” The theme underscores the UN’s commitment to addressing global challenges through collective action.

As the assembly progresses, Yemen’s leadership hopes to engage in meaningful dialogue that fosters international cooperation and paves the way for peace in their nation.
