On Wednesday, the Presidency of the House of Representatives convened at the General Secretariat in the temporary capital, Aden. Led by Speaker Sheikh Sultan al-Barakani, along with members Engineer Mohammed al-Shadadi and Engineer Mohsen Basra, the meeting resulted in significant decisions aimed at enhancing local governance.
The newly formed parliamentary committees will conduct field visits to various provinces. Their primary objective is to assess the activities of local authorities, review financial and administrative practices, and evaluate both central and local public resources. Additionally, the committees will investigate issues related to oil discrepancies and the operations of revenue-generating institutions.
The House of Representatives issued several resolutions to establish these committees:
Resolution No. (3) for the year 2025 established a committee comprising Abdullah al-Maqtari, Abdulrahman al-Ashabi, Saleh al-Amri, Hussein al-Suwadi, Abdulkarim Shayban, and Ibrahim al-Fashiq. This committee will focus on the provinces of Shabwa, Marib, and Abyan.
Resolution No. (4) for the year 2025 formed another committee, including Ansaf Mayo, Ali al-Lahbi, Ibrahim al-Mazlam, Ali al-Maamari, and Salem Haidara. This group will visit the provinces of Hadramout and Al-Mahra.
Resolution No. (5) for the year 2025 created a third committee, consisting of Zakaria al-Zakri, Dr. Mohammed al-Qabati, Qasim al-Kasadi, Ali Ashal, Fuad Awkad, Mohammed al-Hamiri, Suhail Abdulrazak, and Abdullah al-Khalqi. This committee will oversee the provinces of Aden, Taiz, Lahij, and Al-Dhale.
These initiatives reflect the House of Representatives’ commitment to improving local governance and accountability. By actively engaging with provincial authorities, the parliament aims to address existing challenges and enhance the overall effectiveness of local administrations.
