On Sunday, the National Commission for Investigation of Allegations of Human Rights Violations convened a new periodic meeting with its field monitors in Mukalla, Hadramout Governorate. This meeting marks an essential step in the commission’s ongoing efforts to address human rights issues in Yemen.
During the opening session, the commission’s chairman, Judge Ahmed Saeed Al-Maflahi, extended a warm welcome to all participating monitors. He commended their fieldwork, emphasizing the importance of monitoring and documenting human rights violations across Yemen. Al-Maflahi highlighted that these efforts adhere to the highest international standards.
The meeting aims to review the current violations listed under international humanitarian law and international human rights law. Participants will discuss and analyze these violations, ensuring that each one receives a final name and description before being added to the commission’s official list. The session will also cover practical applications of the topics addressed during the discussions.
This five-day meeting will include the participation of 39 field monitors from various governorates across the country. Their collective expertise will enhance the commission’s capacity to address human rights violations effectively.
The National Commission continues to play a crucial role in promoting accountability and transparency in Yemen, striving to protect the rights of individuals within the region.
