The Ministry of Public Works and Roads condemned the attack by Houthi militias, supported by the Iranian regime, on the bridge located on the Heijah Al-Abd road connecting the provinces of Taiz and Lahij. This assault resulted in damage to a critical infrastructure component of the road, jeopardizing the safety of traffic and the continued transport of citizens and goods between the two provinces.
In a statement obtained by the Yemeni News Agency (Saba), the ministry emphasized that targeting roads, bridges, and related infrastructure by the Houthi militias constitutes an assault on public property and infrastructure. Such actions disrupt transportation and supply chains, exacerbating the suffering of citizens, particularly in Taiz, which relies on this road for the delivery of food, medicine, fuel, and essential needs.
The ministry asserted that the Houthi militias’ deliberate targeting of roads and bridges reveals their ongoing destructive approach to dismantling infrastructure and harming the interests of citizens. This behavior demonstrates their disregard for the safety and basic needs of the population.
The ministry held the Houthi militias fully responsible for the damages caused by the attack and its repercussions on mobility and public services. It urged the United Nations and relevant international organizations to condemn these assaults on civilian infrastructure and to take action to protect these facilities, ensuring their continued use for the benefit of citizens.
