The Ministry of Awqaf and Guidance announces a series of measures to reduce the costs of Umrah programs.

New Measures to Regulate Umrah Prices Announced by Ministry of Awqaf

The Ministry of Awqaf and Guidance has introduced a series of new regulatory measures aimed at reducing the prices of Umrah programs. These changes also establish a price ceiling for the economic program (host system). This initiative reflects the ministry’s commitment to protecting pilgrims and enhancing fairness and transparency in service delivery.

Comprehensive Review Leads to New Regulations

According to a statement from the Hajj and Umrah sector, which the Yemeni News Agency (Saba) received, these measures follow a thorough review of the current programs. The review identified significant disparities in pricing and service levels over recent months. Consequently, the ministry deemed it necessary to implement organizational interventions to stabilize the market and standardize operational criteria. This effort involves coordination with relevant authorities in Saudi Arabia to improve service quality and enhance oversight efficiency.

Price Cap and Transparency Measures

The statement emphasized that all Umrah establishments must sell the economic program at a maximum price of 800 Saudi Riyals. Additionally, strict transparency regulations will require these establishments to publicly announce prices through official platforms for other programs. The ministry will enforce stringent monitoring measures against non-compliant establishments, which may include revocation of licenses and prohibition from operating.

Commitment to Professional Standards

The ministry confirmed that these new regulations form part of a broader organizational strategy. This strategy aims to elevate the professional standards of Umrah establishments, enhance transparency in program offerings and pricing, and ensure that services align with approved requirements. Ultimately, these efforts seek to reduce irregular practices and bolster public trust in the Umrah system.
