In a ceremony held today in Aden, the temporary capital, Minister of Youth and Sports Naif Al-Bakri recognized students who excelled in recent sports competitions. These events, which featured football, chess, and table tennis, began earlier this month and were organized by the German International University.
Minister Al-Bakri emphasized the significance of such activities at the university level. He stated that sports play a crucial role in maintaining physical health. Additionally, he highlighted their contribution to enhancing mental well-being among students and youth. The minister reaffirmed the ministry’s commitment to partnering with the university and supporting all sports activities, similar to initiatives in other public and private universities in liberated provinces.
Dr. Azam Khalifa, the ministry’s undersecretary, praised the sports events for their role in motivating young people to engage in physical activities. He noted that these competitions encourage a healthy lifestyle among students.
Dr. Abdul Fattah Al-Saeedi, president of the German International University, spoke about the partnership with the Ministry of Youth and Sports. He acknowledged the ministry’s efforts to support young athletes across sports clubs, universities, and schools. Furthermore, he mentioned the establishment of centers dedicated to youth, which aim to foster social and moral awareness.
