Yemeni Minister of Technical Education Discusses Cooperation with Morocco

In a significant meeting held today in Rabat, Morocco, Dr. Anwar Al-Mahri, Yemen’s Minister of Technical Education and Vocational Training, engaged in discussions with Dr. Younes Skouri, Morocco’s Minister of Economic Integration, Small Enterprises, Employment, and Skills. The two leaders explored ways to enhance bilateral cooperation and leverage Morocco’s experience in developing technical education and vocational training systems.

Areas of Collaboration

During their discussions, both ministers reviewed potential partnerships in several key areas. They focused on:

• Trainer Development: Improving the skills and capabilities of trainers.
• Governance of Training Systems: Establishing effective governance frameworks for training programs.
• Curriculum Engineering: Designing and updating educational programs and curricula.
• Work-Based Learning: Promoting internships and apprenticeships between training institutions and businesses.
• Labor Market Needs: Anticipating the skills and competencies required by the job market.

Enhancing Youth Employability

The ministers also addressed strategies to boost youth employability and support their professional integration. They emphasized the need for training programs that align with economic transformations and the demands of productive sectors. Additionally, they discussed the successful model of “Cities of Trades and Skills” in Morocco, which fosters collaboration between training institutions and the private sector.

Yemen’s Aspirations for Advanced Expertise

Minister Al-Mahri expressed Yemen’s eagerness to benefit from Morocco’s advanced expertise in vocational training and skills development. He noted that his recent field visits and meetings provided valuable insights into practices that could inform Yemen’s national strategy for enhancing its technical education and vocational training system.

Morocco’s Commitment to Cooperation

In response, Minister Skouri reaffirmed Morocco’s readiness to strengthen cooperation and share knowledge and expertise. He highlighted the importance of developing the capabilities of trainers and sharing training tools and methodologies. Furthermore, he proposed exploring the possibility of implementing joint projects in areas of mutual interest.

Establishing a Joint Committee

Both ministers agreed to establish a Joint Committee for Monitoring and Implementation. This committee will oversee the outcomes of their discussions, ensure the execution of the framework agreement and the executive agreement, and facilitate the implementation of agreed-upon programs and projects. This initiative aims to ensure continuous coordination and achieve practical results that benefit the vocational training systems in both countries.

The meeting marks a significant step towards fostering collaboration between Yemen and Morocco in the field of technical education and vocational training, paving the way for enhanced skills development and economic growth in both nations.
