Minister Discusses Curriculum Development and Quality Improvement in Vocational Education

In a significant meeting held today in the temporary capital of Aden, Dr. Anwar Al-Mahri, the Minister of Technical Education and Vocational Training, engaged with leaders and staff from the Curriculum and Continuing Education Sector. The discussion focused on the ministry’s strategies aimed at enhancing institutional performance and improving the quality of vocational education and training to meet local and regional labor market needs.

Commitment to Direct Communication

Minister Al-Mahri emphasized the ministry’s commitment to fostering direct communication with various sectors. He highlighted the importance of understanding existing challenges and addressing them effectively. Al-Mahri noted that the Curriculum and Continuing Education Sector serves as a fundamental pillar in the vocational education system. He stated that continuously updating curricula remains a priority within the ministry’s reform and development efforts.

Addressing Challenges and Future Plans

During the meeting, the minister listened to a presentation from sector leaders outlining key tasks, activities, and challenges affecting workflow. They also discussed the needs related to program and curriculum development, capacity building, and modernizing training and educational methods. Future plans included projects and initiatives aimed at improving education quality and aligning outcomes with labor market demands.

Al-Mahri stressed the importance of adopting modern curricula based on methodologies that equip trainees with the necessary skills, knowledge, and professional behaviors. Rashed Al-Athouri, the acting sector director, presented several programs and projects the sector plans to implement in the upcoming phase. Key initiatives include updating and developing curricula using the latest scientific methodologies, integrating modern educational technologies, and enhancing continuing education and training programs.

This meeting marks a crucial step in the ministry’s ongoing efforts to elevate the standards of vocational education and ensure that graduates are well-prepared for the workforce.
