In a significant meeting held today in the temporary capital of Aden, Dr. Ahd Jassous, the Minister of State for Women’s Affairs, engaged with the PASS Foundation for Sustainable Communities to explore strategies for enhancing women’s rights. The discussion focused on expanding women’s participation in sustainable development, peacebuilding, and decision-making processes.
Signing of Memorandum of Understanding
During the meeting, both parties signed a Memorandum of Understanding aimed at strengthening collaboration. This agreement seeks to unify efforts in supporting women’s issues through the implementation of programs and activities that build capacities, facilitate experience sharing, and empower women in leadership and decision-making roles.

Minister Jassous emphasized the need for improved coordination and integration among women’s institutions and leadership. Overview of the PASS Foundation’s Project
Bahiya Al-Saqaf, the President of the PASS Foundation, presented the phases of the project titled “Enhancing Women’s Role in the Second Track of Peace”. Funded by the Dutch government, this initiative spans three years and targets four Yemeni governorates. It aims to empower women leaders through specialized training programs and organize meetings with decision-makers to support women’s involvement in peace processes.
Key Outcomes of the Project
Al-Saqaf outlined the project’s key outcomes, including the development of a policy paper advocating for women’s representation in decision-making roles at a minimum of 30%. This goal aligns with national and international efforts to empower women and enhance their roles across various sectors.
Upcoming Roundtable Discussion
Both parties agreed to organize a roundtable discussion next week, supervised by the Ministry of State for Women’s Affairs. This event, led by women leaders, will focus on discussing mechanisms to enhance women’s participation in peace processes and decision-making, as well as expanding supportive partnerships.
