On October 9, 2023, Ahmed Hamid Lamlas, the Minister of State and Governor of Aden, inaugurated several investment projects for the year 2024 in the Othman district. Dr. Wisam Maawiya, the Director General of Othman, joined him for this significant event.

Commitment to Improving Basic Services

During the inauguration, Lamlas emphasized the critical need to enhance basic services and address the needs of local residents. He highlighted the importance of developing the infrastructure in Othman and across all districts. Lamlas praised the local authority’s efforts in organizing work and their ongoing collaboration with government and community bodies to execute these projects effectively.

Local Council Meeting Highlights Educational Initiatives

In a subsequent meeting with the local council, Lamlas received a comprehensive briefing on various educational initiatives. These initiatives included constructing canopies for Al-Faruq School in Al-Mamdara and Khalid Haidar School, as well as paving the playgrounds of Al-Nahda Secondary School and Al-Abadi School with interlocking bricks.

The meeting also covered public works projects, such as paving the drainage opening at Al-Saila and the street adjacent to Zayed Hotel. Additionally, Lamlas discussed the asphalt layer installation behind the municipality on Gold Street and the rehabilitation of the sewage network in Al-Jazeera neighborhood.

Ongoing and Upcoming Projects

The governor reviewed ongoing projects, which include paving the road from Othman Abdo Secondary School to the Al-Sabihah junction, creating a public space in the Al-Say and Al-Saila area opposite Al-Qadi Mosque, and paving part of the street while constructing a building for Al-Wahda Aden Club in its initial phase.

Local Authority’s Vision and Future Plans

Dr. Maawiya, the Director of Othman, affirmed that the local authority continues to advance community service initiatives in accordance with established laws and local governance strategies. He expressed appreciation for Lamlas’s visit to the local council building, his inauguration of projects, and his support for the local authority in the district.
