Minister Orders Urgent Assessment of Damage to Heijjat al-Abd Bridge

The Minister of Public Works and Roads, Engineer Hussein Al-Aqrobi, has directed specialized technical teams to conduct an urgent technical assessment of the damage inflicted on the bridge located on the Heijjat al-Abd road, which connects the provinces of Taiz and Lahij. This damage resulted from an attack by the Houthi terrorist militia. The minister emphasized the need for necessary measures to repair and rehabilitate the bridge to ensure the safe resumption of traffic.

Importance of Rapid Field Assessment

The minister stressed the importance of quickly mobilizing teams to coordinate with relevant authorities to inspect the damage. This inspection will help determine the extent of the damage and its impact on road safety and vehicle movement. A technical report will be prepared, outlining urgent interventions and appropriate solutions for rehabilitating the bridge in coordination with the concerned entities.

Heijjat al-Abd Road: A Vital Lifeline

Minister Al-Aqrobi highlighted that the Heijjat al-Abd road serves as a vital route connecting the provinces of Taiz and Lahij. It plays a crucial role in facilitating the movement of citizens and the transport of goods, food supplies, pharmaceuticals, and petroleum products. He noted that targeting this infrastructure exacerbates the suffering of citizens, threatens their safety, and disrupts essential transportation and supply chains.

Condemnation of Houthi Attacks

The minister condemned the Houthi militia’s attack on the bridge and related infrastructure. He asserted that assaults on roads, bridges, and crossings represent a direct attack on public infrastructure and property. This behavior reveals the militia’s ongoing destructive approach, which harms citizens’ interests and disrupts essential services.

Commitment to Addressing Damage

The Minister of Public Works and Roads reaffirmed the ministry’s commitment to taking the necessary technical actions to address the damage. He emphasized the importance of working in coordination with relevant authorities to ensure the safety of road users and the continuity of transportation. He held the Houthi militia fully responsible for the damage caused by this attack and its repercussions on citizens and public services.
