In a significant meeting held today in the temporary capital of Aden, Minister of Legal Affairs Judge Ishraq Al-Maqtari engaged with Catherine Gramegon, the French Ambassador to Yemen. The two officials explored avenues for enhancing bilateral cooperation in legal and institutional frameworks.
The meeting, attended by political advisor Hussein Murshid, addressed several critical issues related to the ministry’s development. Key topics included digital transformation, legislative archiving, and the activation of the official gazette. Additionally, they discussed programs aimed at training personnel, with a particular focus on empowering women and enhancing their professional and specialized skills.
Minister Al-Maqtari highlighted the ministry’s ongoing efforts and its primary objectives to strengthen institutional frameworks and modernize administrative structures. She emphasized the implementation of strategic plans aimed at reviewing and updating national legislation to align with contemporary changes. Among the vital legislative projects discussed were laws concerning cybercrime, investment, and counter-terrorism, all of which play a crucial role in supporting state stability and promoting good governance.
Ambassador Gramegon praised the ministry’s efforts and its commitment to fulfilling its responsibilities despite ongoing challenges. She reaffirmed France’s interest in enhancing technical cooperation and exchanging expertise to reinforce the principles of the rule of law in Yemen.
The ambassador expressed her readiness to broaden areas of collaboration, particularly in training, capacity building, and knowledge exchange.
