The Minister of Information warns that Iran’s military leverage over the Bab al-Mandab Strait threatens regional security and global supply chains.

Iranian Threats Highlight Military Strategy in Red Sea

Minister of Information Responds to Iranian Statements

Minister of Information Muammar Al-Eryani has condemned recent Iranian statements linking military actions against Khark Island to threats against the security of the Red Sea and Bab el-Mandeb Strait. He argues that these remarks reveal Iran’s direct influence over the situation, indicating a systematic strategy to manipulate international shipping routes as military leverage.

Houthi Militias: A Proxy for Iranian Interests

In a press statement, Al-Eryani emphasized that these public threats confirm that the Houthi militia operates not as an independent entity but as an extension of Iran’s Revolutionary Guard. He described the militia as a key component of a centralized military operation directed from Tehran, showcasing a unified command structure among various Iranian proxies in the region.

Debunking Houthi Claims of Support for Gaza

Al-Eryani pointed out that these statements undermine the Houthi’s narrative, particularly their claims of “support for Gaza” made since October 7. He asserted that the escalation of violence and destruction of infrastructure stem directly from Iranian directives, using the Palestinian cause as a mere propaganda tool for broader expansionist ambitions.

Risks of Houthi Control Over Strategic Areas

The minister reiterated previous warnings about the dangers posed by Houthi control over parts of Yemen’s coastline. He stressed that turning vital passages, especially Bab el-Mandeb, into military extortion tools for Tehran threatens regional security and places global supply chains at unprecedented risk.

Urgent Call for Action Against Threats

Al-Eryani urged that any leniency towards these threats could solidify a perilous reality. He warned that this strategic corridor could transform from a vital artery for international trade into a chaotic battleground, manipulated by Iranian interests and their regional proxies.

Conclusion

The situation in the Red Sea and Bab el-Mandeb Strait remains critical. The Iranian influence over the Houthi militia poses significant risks to both regional stability and global trade. Immediate and decisive action is essential to counter these threats and protect international shipping routes.
