Houthi Attack on Training Center Declared a War Crime by Yemeni Minister of Information
Yemeni Minister of Information, Muammar Al-Eryani, condemned the recent terrorist attack carried out by Houthi militias on the Ahmad Al-Suleimani training center, located on the outskirts of Ataq, the capital of Shabwa Governorate. This assault resulted in the deaths and injuries of dozens of recruits, which Al-Eryani labeled a war crime. He emphasized that the Houthi militia engages in indiscriminate killing, targeting lives without regard for humanitarian values or local and international laws.
Nature of the Targeted Site
In a press statement, Al-Eryani clarified that the targeted site does not represent a military objective linked to ongoing combat fronts. Instead, it serves as a training center for new recruits in internal security within Shabwa, where they receive essential training and preparation. He pointed out that this attack highlights the criminal nature of the assault, which specifically targeted young individuals preparing for their security duties away from frontline conflicts.
Houthi Tactics and Military Failures
Al-Eryani noted that the Houthi militia aims to create a false media victory through this heinous act, attempting to boost the morale of its demoralized fighters while diverting attention from their defeats across various battlefronts. By targeting security personnel during training, the militia reveals its military and moral bankruptcy, showcasing its inability to achieve any real success on the battlefield.
Call for Enhanced Security Measures
The Minister of Information asserted that this brutal targeting of new recruits will not alter the dire reality of the militia’s situation nor obscure the truth of its ongoing losses. He reiterated the urgent need to strengthen security measures and enhance military readiness across all liberated provinces. Immediate actions must be taken to protect military and security facilities and their personnel from such attacks.
Condolences to Victims’ Families
In closing his statement, Al-Eryani extended heartfelt condolences and deep sympathy to the families of the martyrs, their comrades, and all the people of Shabwa. He prayed for God’s mercy and forgiveness for the deceased and wished for a swift recovery for the injured, while also asking for protection for Shabwa and its residents from all harm.
