In recent statements, Yemen’s Minister of Information, Culture, and Tourism, Muammar Al-Eryani, criticized the Iranian regime’s handling of the Palestinian issue. He argued that Iran has never viewed Palestine as a principled or humanitarian cause. Instead, he claimed, Iran has used the Palestinian struggle as a cover for its interventions in Arab nations and to justify its expansionist, sectarian agenda.
Al-Eryani pointed out that Tehran’s recent agreement to a ceasefire, following 12 days of military exchanges, lacked any acknowledgment of the suffering faced by Palestinians in Gaza. He described this omission as a clear indication of the Iranian regime’s moral and political decline. According to him, this action demonstrates Iran’s abandonment of a cause it has long exploited to promote its aggressive policies.
The minister emphasized that the Iranian regime, which has positioned itself as a "champion of resistance" and "defender of Palestine," quickly shifted its focus to self-preservation when its own stability was threatened. He noted that this disregard for the pain and suffering of the Palestinian people in Gaza reveals that what Tehran calls "resistance" serves merely as a tool for political manipulation. Al-Eryani asserted that this strategy remains effective only as long as it aligns with the regime’s interests and survival.
Al-Eryani concluded that the recent developments represent a significant political and moral scandal for the Iranian regime. He argued that this situation strips away the facade of a dual narrative that has deceived many. Ultimately, he stated that the Palestinian cause has become a mere fig leaf, exposing the true nature of Tehran’s agenda, which is rooted in chaos and destruction, rather than genuine support for Palestine or the principles of true resistance.
