Recent Success Against Houthi Smuggling Operations
Minister of Information, Muammar Al-Eryani, commended the significant achievement of the Giants Forces in thwarting a new attempt to smuggle military equipment intended for the Iran-backed Houthi militia. Authorities intercepted a smuggling boat carrying materials used in the production of drones and suicide boats.
Demonstrating Vigilance and Readiness
Al-Eryani emphasized that this professional security operation reflects a high level of vigilance, efficiency, and readiness in securing Yemen’s coastlines and maritime routes. He stated, “The seizure of this shipment serves as further evidence of the Iranian regime’s ongoing supply of advanced weapons and military components to the Houthi militia, blatantly violating United Nations Security Council resolutions and the arms embargo imposed on the group.”
Iran’s Expansive Agenda
The minister pointed out that this operation underscores Iran’s continued use of the Houthis as a tool to execute its expansionist agenda, threatening Yemen’s security, regional stability, and international navigation. He clarified that the military capabilities possessed by the Houthi militia, particularly drones and suicide boats, are not locally developed as they claim. Instead, they rely heavily on smuggling networks and external support led by Iran.
Call for International Action
Al-Eryani urged the international community to intensify efforts to cut off the militia’s arms supply, dismantle smuggling networks, and hold accountable those involved in providing military equipment and technology. He noted that this achievement highlights the crucial role of the forces in protecting maritime routes and combating smuggling operations.
Strengthening Security in the Red Sea
The minister reiterated that enhancing the capabilities of government forces in combating smuggling is vital for safeguarding the security of the Red Sea and Bab al-Mandab. This effort aims to prevent Iranian weapons from reaching the Houthi militia, thereby contributing to regional and international security and stability.
The interception of military equipment destined for the Houthis marks a significant victory in the ongoing struggle against smuggling and external interference in Yemen. The commitment to securing maritime routes remains a priority for the Yemeni government and its allies.
