In a significant meeting held today in the temporary capital of Aden, Minister of Information, Culture, and Tourism, Muammar Al-Eryani, engaged with representatives from various women’s heritage craft associations. The discussion focused on ways to support and enhance traditional crafts and industries.
During the meeting, Al-Eryani conveyed greetings from President Dr. Rashad Mohammed Al-Alimi, the Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council, and Prime Minister Salem Bin Brek. He emphasized their support for craft associations and handmade products that preserve Yemen’s heritage and convey its cultural diversity to future generations.
Al-Eryani praised the efforts of women’s craft associations, highlighting their crucial role in preserving cultural heritage and providing livelihoods for those in the craft sector. He noted the rich cultural and artisanal diversity found in Aden and its surrounding areas.
The minister directed the purchase of a selection of these products to distribute to Yemeni embassies. He proposed using these items as gifts during international conferences and cultural events, aiming to promote Yemen and its unique cultural heritage. Al-Eryani stressed the importance of adhering to quality standards in production to ensure the excellence of these crafts.
Al-Eryani encouraged the associations to prepare early and produce traditional crafts in anticipation of participating in the Second Winter Festival of Aden. This event is organized by the ministry and the Tourism Promotion Council in collaboration with the local authority in Aden.
The minister listened attentively as representatives from the women’s craft associations explained their work, the various specialties, and the significant challenges they face. He assured them of the ministry’s commitment to support and encourage craft associations through training programs and marketing initiatives.
The representatives expressed their gratitude for the ministry’s attention to their issues and their readiness to collaborate in preserving Yemen’s craft heritage while enhancing its economic and social roles.
The meeting also included notable attendees such as Mohammed Bashraheel, Chairman of the 14 October Foundation for Press, Printing, and Publishing, Mohammed Al-Shaabi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Culture, and Intisar Al-Hadali, Executive Director of the Tourism Promotion Council.
