In a significant meeting held today in Aden, Minister of Electricity and Energy, Engineer Adnan Al-Kaf, engaged with Zina Ali, the Resident Representative of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Yemen. The discussions focused on enhancing cooperation in the electricity and energy sector, particularly in renewable energy and institutional capacity building.
Minister Al-Kaf emphasized the ministry’s commitment to expanding partnerships with the UNDP and other donor organizations. He highlighted that these collaborations aim to support the government’s efforts to improve electricity services and develop the sector’s infrastructure. Al-Kaf stressed the importance of establishing a structured relationship between the ministry and the UNDP to ensure the implementation of sustainable projects that have a direct and significant impact on citizens.
During the meeting, Al-Kaf pointed out that the current phase requires high-level coordination to direct support toward the sector’s priorities. He specifically mentioned the need for focus on clean energy, efficient usage, and enhancing service stability in targeted areas.
In response, Zina Ali noted that improving current conditions would attract more donors, especially for renewable energy projects. She affirmed the UNDP’s readiness to provide necessary technical support and participate in project implementation based on the ministry’s needs. Additionally, Ali mentioned the importance of mobilizing shared resources in coordination with international partners.
This collaboration marks a crucial step towards advancing Yemen’s energy sector, particularly in renewable energy initiatives, which are vital for sustainable development and improving the quality of life for citizens.
