A Comprehensive Overview of the Initiative
Today, Minister of Education Tarek Al-Akbari visited Aden, the temporary capital, to assess the progress of a significant solar energy project. This initiative involves the supply, installation, and operation of a complete solar energy system for the Ministry of Education’s headquarters. The project receives funding from the World Bank in partnership with UNICEF.
Project Details and Progress
During the visit, Minister Al-Akbari, accompanied by Shireen Mukhtar, the Education Section Chief at UNICEF’s Aden office, received a detailed briefing from Engineer Salem Ya’mar, the Deputy for Projects and Equipment. The solar system boasts a storage capacity of 120 kilowatts and a generation capacity of 62 kilowatts. Engineer Ya’mar reported that the project is progressing rapidly, with an impressive completion rate of 80%.
Acknowledging Support from International Partners
Minister Al-Akbari expressed gratitude for the support provided by UNICEF and the World Bank. He emphasized the importance of their contributions in enhancing the educational sector. This collaboration underscores the commitment to improving educational resources and infrastructure in Yemen.
