Minister of Defense Leads Meeting for Military Academy Council

In a significant gathering held today in the temporary capital of Aden, Minister of Defense and Chairman of the Supreme Council of the Higher Military Academy, Lieutenant General Taher Al-Aqeeli, presided over a meeting to discuss the academic plans for the 2026-2027 academic year. The council focused on ongoing efforts to enhance the educational process within the academy.

Importance of Educational Development

During the meeting, which included members of the Supreme Council of the Higher Military Academy, the Minister of Defense emphasized the need to intensify efforts and mobilize resources for the upcoming academic year. This year marks the launch of studies at the Higher War College and the activation of the Center for Strategic Studies, following the initiation of programs at the Colleges of Command and Staff and National Defense in previous terms.

Lieutenant General Al-Aqeeli highlighted that the Higher Military Academy serves as a national scientific institution crucial for preparing and qualifying military and civilian leaders. He stressed the importance of strengthening state institutions by equipping them with skilled personnel capable of addressing challenges. Furthermore, he underscored the necessity of adhering to the regulations governing admission and registration processes while applying strict academic standards in teaching and evaluation.

Review of Academic Plans

The Minister of Defense also listened to feedback and insights from heads of various departments regarding the enhancement of academic performance. The discussion included strategies to align the academy’s outputs with the needs of the armed forces, thereby improving operational effectiveness and achieving desired objectives.

The Director of the Higher Military Academy, along with the heads of the Colleges of National Defense, Command and Staff, and Higher War, presented the academic and training programs planned for the new academic year. They also discussed the academy’s readiness to welcome new cohorts of students.

Collaboration with Aden University

Dr. Al-Khadr Al-Sour, President of Aden University, praised the Higher Military Academy’s return to fulfilling its academic mission. He viewed the revival of state institutions as a positive indicator of institutional development. Dr. Al-Sour confirmed Aden University’s readiness to enhance cooperation and coordination with the academy across various academic, scientific, and research fields to serve national interests.

Additionally, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Higher Education and a representative from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs provided several insights and suggestions aimed at improving the academy’s performance. The meeting concluded with the council’s approval of the academic plan for the new academic year, ensuring the enhancement of performance and the achievement of the highest quality standards in scientific and professional preparation.
